Richmond, Virginia’s .gif from god will unleash their long-awaited new full-length Dissimulation on April 16th through Prosthetic Records.
.gif from god has defied easy categorization since their inception in 2015. Blending various elements of hardcore punk and extreme metal, including metalcore, screamo, and grindcore, the unit has solidified its place in the underground music scene over the past decade. Described Stereogum accurately, “.gif from god makes frantic, explosive screamo that often veers into pure metallic chaos.”
The six-piece machine cemented their lineup in 2017, including two stand-alone vocalists, resulting in maximum insanity and catharsis during their live shows.
On their upcoming third LP, Dissimulation, .gif from god has honed their chaotic craft into a laser-focused sonic blast that slips in like a blade and hits like a truck. Working again with Matt Michel at the legendary Viva Studios, they’ve exceeded the limits of their previous work while creating a record that is still deeply rooted in the storied Virginia punk scene that precedes them. Dissimulation explores the unseen, otherworldly senses within us that are indescribable and horrific to face. Spiraling paranoid fantasies that lure you deeper into the cosmic abyss.
In advance of the record’s release, today the band presents a video for first single, “Volatile Simian Nervous-System.” The band comments, “Throw a flash bang at my skull ////// I don’t remember anything.”
.gif from god’s Dissimulation was produced by the band, engineered and mixed by Matt Michel, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. The record will be released on all digital formats.
