Melodic death metallists MERCENARY have unveiled the title track from their upcoming album, “Through Our Darkest Days.” You can stream the entire song via Soundcloud.
The band commented, ”We are proud to let you all hear the title track of our new album. We put a lot of effort, heart and soul into this beast and can’t wait to unleash it on the world! For us, the song is very iconic and it embodies the melancholic and grand sound that has always been a trademark for Mercenary.”

“Through Our Darkest Days” — the group’s seventh studio album — is scheduled for release in North America on July 30 via Prosthetic. It was recorded with longtime collaborator Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Heaven Shall Burn) at Hansen Studios in Denmark and features cover art by Mircea Eftemie (Soilwork, Mnemic).

The band also has also announced a series of tour dates in its native country, which will follow their recently announced European headlining tour. Says the band, “We are psyched to announce that we will be tearing up Denmark in September and October with our good friends Essence! We will make sure that no heads are left unshaken! We look forward to share the stage with Essence once again and delivering ONE HELL of a show every night! So get your asses down to the shows and bring the action!”

Over the course of its career, MERCENARY has earned extensive acclaim for its juxtaposition of melody and melancholy, as well as its unique musical mixture of the progressive, power, death and thrash metal subgenres. The group — which has twice performed at the annual ProgPower USA festival — has toured their native continent extensively with the likes of Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Nevermore, King Diamond, Death Angel and Symphony X, in addition to playing such prominent festivals as Wacken, Graspop and Dynamo.

Italian death metallers HOUR OF PENANCE will embark on a European tour this fall alongside Australian tech-death act Psycroptic and UK death outfit Dyscarnate. Prior to the tour — which kicks off in Belgium on Sept. 20 – the band will be seen appearing at several of the summer’s heaviest international festivals. All upcoming dates are listed below.

Guitarist Giulio Moschini commented: “We’re extremely happy to tour again with our friends in Psycroptic and Dyscarnate and most of all to play again in Europe after the successful tour we did with Cannibal Corpse, Devildriver and The Black Dahlia Murder in February. For the first time, Hour of Penance will also play in Ireland! Be there!“

HOUR OF PENANCE are also excited to reveal that they have begun working on their next release, expected out in early 2014.

Moschini commented: “Since the release of (2012′s) ‘Sedition,’ the band has played over 150 shows throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. We have had great times on the road and would like to thank all the fans who came to our shows and bought ‘Sedition,’ as well as all the people we worked with during this year. This was without a doubt a big source of inspiration for us, and while at home or between shows, we started collecting ideas for our next record. Even if what we have right now are only demos of the new songs, we can already say that if you loved ‘Sedition’ and our past albums, you’ll go crazy with this new record. We worked our asses off and meticulously worked on improving our music once again, so we’re very glad to announce that a new album will be recorded after this tour!”

Guitarist Paolo Pieri added: “We’re currently working on the lyrics and vocals for the new songs. This album will be more varied and brutal than everything we’ve done so far. The new material sounds totally fresh and will be a bone-crushing feast for old and new fans of Hour of Penance.”

Swedish melodic death metallists DARKANE have posted a lyric video for the title track from their upcoming release, “The Sinister Supremacy,” due out in North America on July 2 through PROSTHETIC RECORDS. You can view the video directly below or by clicking HERE.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTSw2PfJx_s
“The Sinister Supremacy” marks not only the first new music from DARKANE in over five years, but also the return of vocalist Lawrence Mackrory, who was last heard on the band’s 1999 debut. The album title, says the band, is “a metaphor for the evil that controls us. It guides us into making choices based on pure selfishness, and it thrives on complete chaos.” The cover art, featured above, was completed by Carlos Holmberg (Soilwork) and is meant to represent a Rorschach test as seen by an individual who has completely succumbed to the sinister supremacy.

The track listing for “The Sinister Supremacy” is as follows:
1. Sounds of Pre-Existence
2. The Sinister Supremacy
3. Mechanically Divine
4. Ostracized
5. The Decline
6. Insurrection is Imminent
7. In the Absence of Pain
8. Humanity Defined
9. Hate Repentance State
10. Collapse of Illusions
11. By Darkness Designed
12. Existence is Just a State of Mind

You can pre-order “The Sinister Supremacy” in the PROSTHETIC webstore by itself or bundled with an exclusive t-shirt : http://www.indiemerch.com/prostheticrecords/brand/darkane

Danish “melo-death” metallists MERCENARY have revealed the track listing for their seventh studio album, “Through Our Darkest Days,” which is as follows:

1. A New Dawn
2. Welcome The Sickness
3. Through Our Darkest Days
4. Dreamstate Machine
5. A Moment Of Clarity
6. Beyond This Night
7. Starving Eyes
8. Generation Hate
9. Forever The Unknown
10. Holding Onto Serenity (digital bonus track)

Recorded with longtime collaborator Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Heaven Shall Burn) at Hansen Studios, “Through Our Darkest Days” is scheduled for a North American release on July 30 via Prosthetic Records. According to the band, the album’s cover art by Mircea Eftemie (Soilwork, Mnemic) “symbolizes a darkness that we have gone through as a band, which we feel that we have finally been able to put behind us.” The title, meanwhile, “is meant very positively and thematizes both the journey through existential darkness as a general theme and the ability to break through it. The lyrical universe is very much about making the most of life and not getting caught up in negativity.”

More information on the album, including pre-order packages, will be unveiled shortly.

Danish melodic death metallists MERCENARY have announced a European headlining tour in support of their upcoming release, “Through Our Darkest Days.” The tour will feature support from Omnium Gatherum; full dates are listed below.

“Through Our Darkest Days,” the group’s seventh studio album, is scheduled for North American release on July 30 via Prosthetic Records. Recorded with longtime collaborator and friend Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Heaven Shall Burn) at Hansen Studios in Denmark, the album will include what the band describes as “a combination of our latest material with a lot of the more traditional melodic and melancholic elements of previous Mercenary albums.”

The album cover art, featured above, was completed by Mnemic guitarist Mircea Efrfemie (Soilwork, Illdisposed) and “symbolizes a darkness we have gone through as a band, which we feel we have finally been able to put behind us. The title of the album is meant very positively and thematizes both the journey through existential darkness as a general theme and the ability to break through it. The lyrical universe is very much about making the most of life and not getting caught up in negativity.”

Swedish melodic death metal sensation DARKANE are excited to reveal the details on their upcoming album, “The Sinister Supremacy.” The album will not only mark the first new music from the band in over five years, but will also include the return of vocalist Lawrence Mackrory, who was last heard on the band’s 1999 debut “Rusted Angel”. Consisting of 12 haunting tracks, the album will showcase a new, darker and heavier version of Darkane!

Track listing for “The Sinister Supremacy” is as follows:
1. Sounds of Pre-Exsistence
2. The Sinister Supremacy
3. Mechanically Divine
4. Ostracized
5. The Decline
6. Insurrection is Imminent
7. In the Absence of Pain
8. Humanity Defined
9. Hate Repentance State
10. Collapse of Illusions
11. By Darkness Designed
12. Existence is Just a State of Mind

The meaning behind the album’s title, the cover art of which can be seen featured above, was explained by the band as follows:
“The Sinister Supremacy is a metaphor for the evil that controls us. It’s the dark part of our minds and it’s inside us all. It tells us it’s ok to do bad things, to hurt other people, and hurt ourselves. It guides us into making choices based on pure selfishness, and it thrives on complete chaos. The cover art by Carlos Holmberg is a Rorschach test as seen by an individual who has completely succumbed to the sinister supremacy.”

“The Sinister Supremacy” is scheduled for release on July 2 through PROSTHETIC and is also now available for pre-order on the PROSTHETIC webstore along with an exclusive bundle consisting of the album paired with a specially designed t-shirt!

The Swedish quintet DARKANE — who for 15 years have combined melodic death metal with technical thrash to stirring effect — have joined forces with PROSTHETIC RECORDS to release their upcoming album “The Sinister Supremacy.” The album, which marks the band’s first new music in five years, is scheduled for release on July 2 in North America and will feature the return of vocalist Lawrence Mackrory, back in the Darkane fold for the first time since the group’s 1999 debut “Rusted Angel.”

DARKANE was originally formed in 1998 by guitarist Christofer Malmström, drummer Peter Wildoer and bassist Jörgen Löfberf who, along with guitarist Klas Ideberg, recorded a few tracks for a demo featuring Björn “Speed” Strid on vocals, who left DARKANE shortly after due to his commitments in Soilwork. The band then recorded their first full-length, “Rusted Angel,” with Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Dimmu Borgir) who introduced them to vocalist Lawrence Mackrory. They made their first international appearances alongside Soilwork and Naglfar, but due to scheduling conflicts, Mackrory was unable to complete the tour and left the band soon after. Over the next few years, the band signed with Nuclear Blast Records, released a number of acclaimed records and toured around the world with acts including Testament, Meshuggah, Fear Factory, Soilwork and Devin Townsend’s Strapping Young Lad.

For 15 years, Swedish quintet Darkane have combined melodic death and technical thrash to stirring effect, and as their new album “The Sinister Supremacy” proves, they’re just getting started. It marks not only the first Darkane album in five years, but also the return of vocalist Lawrence Mackrory, the man who delivered a memorable performance on the group’s 1999 debut, “Rusted Angel”.
Darkane was formed in January 1998 from the ashes of Agretator, a thrash metal band hailing from the Swedish costal city Helsingborg. Inspired by the aggression, speed, and technical finesse of At The Gates, guitarist Christofer Malmström, drummer Peter Wildoer and bass player Jörgen Löfberg joined forces with longtime friend and guitarist Klas Ideberg, formerly of thrash act Hyste’riah, to form a new band. After attracting the attention of local metal label War Music the band recorded “Convicted” and “July 1999” for the “Wardance” compilation with vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid filling in on vocals. Due to conflicting commitments with Soilwork, Speed’s duration in Darkane was short. Nevertheless, the friendship between Soilwork and Darkane would remain long lasting. Malmström and Wildoer kept busy and continued writing throughout 1998, eventually composing enough material for a full-length release.

Having been huge fans of Daniel Bergstrand’s work with Meshuggah, Darkane decided to record their debut album at Dugout Studios in Uppsala in August 1998. However, Darkane remained without a vocalist and front man. The band asked Bergstrand for suggestions and immediately Lawrence Mackrory’s name came up. Mackrory had been working with Bergstrand as a studio assistant for some time and also was the frontman for Forcefeed and F.K.Ü. After briefly listening to Mackrory’s material, Darkane decided to let him record the vocals for what would be “Rusted Angel”.

In March 1999, Darkane was slated to do their first shows abroad with Naglfar and Soilwork. However, Mackrory had previous engagements to do gigs with Forcefeed. While searching for a replacement vocalist for the tour, Malmström came across Andreas Sydow, whom he had previously played with. Although Sydow was not a metal vocalist, after some persuasion, he agreed. The shows with Sydow went great and he was asked to join the band permanently, since Mackrory’s place in the band was only on a temporary basis and also “Rusted Angel” was finally released in April (Europe) and October (USA) of 1999. The band played The Netherland’s infamous Dynamo Open Air in front of 15.000 people and plenty more festivals. Darkane also toured Europe with Cannibal Corpse, Marduk, Defleshed anmd many more.
Upon returning from their Cannibal Corpse tour, Darkane immediately began work on “Insanity”, their follow-up to “Rusted Angel”. Soon after the release of their sophomore album via their newly chosen label partner Nuclear Blast Records in 2001, Darkane made their American live debut at the legendary Milwaukee Metalfest, where they performed alongside the likes of Opeth, Katatonia and Mastodon. Over the next few years, they released two more acclaimed albums, “Expanding Senses” (2002) and “Layers of Lies” (2005). They also toured internationally with such groups as Testament, Meshuggah and Death Angel in addition to periodic North American tours with Fear Factory, Devin Townsend’s Strapping Young Lad, Soilwork and Warbringer, among others.

In August 2007, vocalist Andreas Sydow decided to end his tenure with Darkane. After 3 studio albums and 8 years in the band he felt he had reached a standstill in the creative process. Undeterred by this blow, the band welcomed Jens Broman (Construcdead, The Defaced) into the fold and recorded their fifth album “Demonic Art”, which was released in November 2008 via Massacre Records in Europe and in early 2009 via Nuclear Blast Records in North America. After some more touring during the following 2 years and the release of their first DVD, “Layers Of Live” in 2010, the band decided to take a break to build their own recording studio.

In the spring of 2011, vocalist Jens Broman broke the bad news that he wasn’t able to fulfill his commitment to do the “Demonic Alliance Tour” in September. Not wanting to cancel the tour, the band called up Lawrence Mackrory to see if he would be interested in helping out. Indeed he was and he travelled from Uppsala down to Helsingborg for a weekend of rehearsals. As events would unfold, Darkane and Jens amicably decided to go separate ways and Lawrence was officially back in the band as their vocalist.

After completing said tour, Darkane continued the construction of the new studio while writing material for their 6th studio album and in June 2012 they were finally able to start with the actual recordings. With help from long-time friend and producer Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, etc.), they set up a massive drum sound worthy of showcasing Peter Wildoer’s eccentric drumming, which has also been heard on releases by acts like Arch Enemy, Old Man’s Child, Pestilence or also Dream Theater’s James LaBrie solos releases in the previous years, and during the coming months they laid down the rest of the tracks for the new album. Along with Daniel Bergstrand’s vibrant mix and artwork courtesy of former Soilwork member Carlos Holmberg, “The Sinister Supremacy” showcases a new, darker and heavier version of Darkane. Mutated with new DNA in the form of Mackrory, they once more expand the boundaries of extreme metal. Ever experimental yet staying true to their roots, the 2013 version of the band is a brand new beast, ready to be unleashed. “The Sinister Supremacy” is coming upon you on June 28th, 2013 in Europe via Massacre Records and on July 2nd 2013 in North America via Prosthetic Records.

“One One One” has been described by SHINING front man Jørgen Munkeby as “a series of jazz-metal hits with no fillers” and “definitely the catchiest and most immediate music we’ve ever recorded.” The album was mixed and co-produced with Sean Beaven (NIN, Marilyn Manson, Slayer) while being mastered by Tom Baker at Precision Mastering (A7X, Deftones, Ministry). The final chapter in the band’s “Blackjazz Trilogy,” the album incorporates progressive rock, jazz fusion, experimental metal and black metal influences to create a unique sound, as showcased in the music video for first single “I Won’t Forget.”

“Grinding Dissent” is a track from RAMMING SPEED’s Kurt Ballou-tracked Prosthetic debut, “Doomed To Destroy, Destined To Die,” due out June 25 on CD, LP, cassette and digital download. The band commented on the track as follows: ”‘Grinding Dissent’ is largely about America’s facade of righteousness and freedom. A government that is ‘for the people’ may or may not have originally been the goal, but in this day and age, it’s obvious that protest and free speech aren’t welcome. Our police departments have military-grade weapons turned on civilians to keep us quiet while politicians smile and shake hands behind closed doors. Musically. the song starts off with punishing D-beat and ends with Ferrari-sized, Piña Colada-chugging twin guitar riffage! Put this shit on 11, crack a beer and scream at the sun.”

Danish melodic death metallists MERCENARY have completed recording and mixing their seventh studio album, “Through Our Darkest Days,” with longtime collaborator Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Heaven Shall Burn) at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark. The album, to be released in North America via Prosthetic Records on July 30, features artwork (above) by Mnemic guitarist Mircea Eftemie (Soilwork, Illdisposed).

The band commented on the album’s artwork: “The cover symbolizes a darkness that we have gone through as a band, which we feel that we have finally been able to put behind us. The title of the album is meant very positively and thematizes both the journey through existential darkness as a general theme and the ability to break through it. The lyrical universe is very much about making the most of life and not getting caught up in negativity.”

Says Eftemie, ”I wanted to make something that had a direct visual relation to the album title, but also follow the design patterns of the older Mercenary album covers to keep their identity and brand intact. After swapping ideas back and forth, we ended with a piece not too abstract, but dark and disturbing enough to portray the concept of the new album. It was absolutely a pleasure working on this piece!”

“Through The Darkest Days” is the follow-up to the 2011 release of “Metamorphosis,” and according to the band will include “a combination of our latest material with a lot of the more traditional melodic and melancholic elements of previous Mercenary albums. We feel that this (album) is a perfect visual expression of Mercenary’s sound and identity in 2013.”

UK extreme metal act DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT have just been announced to play at this years Incubate Festival in Tilburg, NL this September alongside acts including Immortal, Mayhem, Brutal Truth, Neige Morte and more. The appearance will follow the band’s recently announced UK tour with Bossk throughout May in support of their highly acclaimed 2012 release, “Widowmaker” - a viciously haunting voyage into the macabre.

This eerie masterpiece pieces together a colossal atmosphere belonging as much to the Swans or Neurosis as it does to Autopsy and Burning Witch. A rewarding, often beautiful and more often than not disturbing proposition, “Widowmaker,” is one of the most powerful pieces of music to emerge in recent years from a band who really are at the forefront of British extreme metal.

Furthermore, DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT, have announced that they will be hosting a Reddit’s AMA - “Ask Me Anything” chat on May 7th at 7:00 pm GMT (12 pm Pacific/ 3 pm Eastern) - a great chance to try and unlock some of the mysteries that surround them

The band were last seen on a headlining jaunt through the US with featured support from Cough or Wolvhammer, along with a groundbreaking appearance at 2012′s Maryland Deathfest where they shared the stage with Godflesh, Morbid Angel, Electric Wizard, and more. Live footage of their haunting performance can be seen HERE.

Norwegian industrial jazz-metallists’ SHINING are excited to reveal the stream of their entire album, “One One One”! You can pre-order the album, scheduled for May 28 release on CD (gatefold LP to follow shortly after), directly from the Prosthetic web store (http://www.indiemerch.com/prostheticrecords/band/shining).

Mixed and co-produced by Sean Beaven (NIN, Marilyn Manson, Slayer) and mastered by Tom Baker at Precision Mastering (Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones, Ministry), “One One One” sees Shining expanding on the musical palettes introduced on “Blackjazz.” That album – hailed by the New York Times as “a radioactive alloy of jazz and black metal” – scored a Norwegian Grammy nomination, cracked the Norwegian Top 10 and saw the group tour around the globe, from high-profile U.S. events like SXSW and CMJ to the large stages of European summer festivals. SHINING are currently on tour throughout Europe, full dates can be found below. For a preview of their show, you can watch a soaring live clip of their heavy cover of King Crimson’s classic track “21st Century Schizoid Man” at Oslo’s Rockefeller Music Hall on the band’s Youtube channel.

Having just completed touring with the Anthrax-headlined Metal Alliance Tour, Los Angeles heavy metal quintet HOLY GRAIL are excited to premiere their second-ever music video.
Described as “the second coming of Judas Priest” by the Washington Times, HOLY GRAIL spent much of 2012 recording “Ride The Void” — which cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard Heatseekers chart upon its release earlier this year – with producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children of Bodom). In a recent review, Decibel claimed, “You’d have to go back 20 years to find a metal record that achieves this level of instant infectiousness.” The album is currently available on iTunes and Amazon MP3, as well as on CD or LP via RideTheVoid.com.

HOLY GRAIL are currently touring their way west with Exodus. The band will also play a show at the Viper Room in Los Angeles — their first hometown headlining performance since the release of “Ride The Void” — on May 15. Additional tour dates will be announced soon.

Labeled by Job For A Cowboy guitarist Alan Glassman as “one of the angriest-sounding releases I’ve ever heard — a black metal masterpiece,” “Gates To The Pantheon” features nine bloodthirsty tracks recorded at Hammer Studios in Hamburg with producer Eike Freese (Gamma Ray, Callejon, Dark Age). The album is NEGATOR’s first new music since their critically acclaimed 2010 release “Panzer Metal.” Soon after the release of that album, vocalist Nachtgarm was recruited to join Dark Funeral, with whom he toured around the world throughout 2011 and 2012.

“Drones of the Awakening,” which was recorded at guitarist Stefano Morabito’s 16th Cellar Studio (Hour of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Inherit Disease) in Rome, received a 9/10 rating from Outburn magazine, who noted “explosive blastbeating and machine gunning.” You can view a lyric video for the song “Rise of the Orgamechanism” — described by NoCleanSinging as “a galvanizing onslaught of technical riffing and fully weaponized percussion” — below.
